How To Save Water

12 December, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Every resident should invest in a shower timer!

Central Tablelands Water (CTW) residents are reminded of the Level 3 restrictions which came into effect on 1st July 2019.

The water restrictions consists of an “odds and evens” system under which watering of gardens and lawns is permitted only every second day between the times of 7am to 10am and 4pm to 7pm, with the use of microsprays, drip systems and soaker hoses only. Additional approval has been granted for the use of a hand held trigger hose for up to 1 hour per allocated watering day to water gardens only.

CTW has approximately 6,000 water connections and provides potable water to around 15,000 consumers in 14 towns and villages including Blayney, Cudal, Mandurama, Canowindra, Eugowra, Millthorpe, Carcoar, Grenfell, Manildra, Cargo, Lyndhurst, Quandialla, Woodstock, Gooloogong and Cowra Shire Council’s rural properties on Council Trunk Mains.

Some Water Saving Tips:
• Reduce shower time by two minutes – estimated saving 18 litres per day.
• Fix a dripping tap in your home – estimated saving 5–50 litres per day.
• Fix a leaking toilet in your home – estimated saving 5–100 litres per day.
• Use a four star front loading washing machine – estimated saving 57 litres per day.
