To the Editor,

Thanks to Cabonne Council for calling a meeting for all residents and ratepayers around the Canowindra area and in our special town. The meeting was well attended with many ideas and improvements for our future, but sadly, young parents, and senior school students were absent and the future is very much in their interests.

Canowindra has many assets which can be improved and maintained to keep it a great town and encourage tourists, the heritage buildings which need to be preserved, the museum and Age of Fishes and our treasured Belubula River, with green river flats an oasis especially in times of drought, being a few.

The aim of the meeting, trying to find out what we the people here want as a collective, working together in deciding what our priorities are and for those who were unable to attend the meeting to think about what is most important in your eyes.

Council will never meet everyone’s wishes or needs but we need to support their effort in working towards the improvements for the future, taking advantage on what we have and do the best we can for our unique country town.

We all need to support future meetings and discussions not with negative complaints of the past but positive ideas and plans for the future and work together to the best of our ability.

Please, people of Canowindra think on these things.

Kind Regards, Nola Meggitt
