Men’s Bowls

Sixteen bowlers competed in social mixed mufti bowls last Friday night with the winners being Steve Kirkman and Penny Nash and the runners up being Doug Nash and Liz Thornberry.

Last Saturday a Major Triples match was played with Ron Symons, Ian Nelder and Garry Fairley against Terry Mooney, Barney Robson and Vinnie Mirto. After 12 ends the scores were close being 12-11 in favour of Vinnie’s team. From then on Garry’s team took control of the game to win the match 28-14.

Last Sunday the Minor Triples final was played with Ron Symons, Kevin Walker and Garry Fairley against Crock Watt, Larry Nunn and Nick Delaney. After 12 ends Garry’s team had a handy lead 12-4 but from then on Nick’s team was able to bridge the gap and take the lead winning the final 20-14.

Friday November 15: Social mixed pairs mufti bowls sponsored by Men’s bowls. First 14 teams accepted with names in by 6pm for 6.30pm start. $10 per team. One game of 15 ends.

Saturday November 16: Ron and Peggy Lynch Memorial Mixed Triples Day sponsored by Sue and Robert Lynch. $1,320 in prize money. Round robin tournament with all female/male or mixed teams. Play commences at 9.30am. $90 per team includes Chinese lunch.
