Garden number 3 of the Open Garden Day, owned by Jenna and Chris Peet.
Saturday October 26 will be the day for all local garden enthusiasts, with the Canowindra High School P&C hosting its Open Garden Day.
Six gardens will be showcased, with garden styles including classic country, cottage garden, native, and drought tolerant all on display, as well as an array of different species of trees, bushes and flowers. The six gardens on display will be as follows:
• Garden 1: Joan and Herbie Brenninger, who’s focus is on an evolving old style country garden, with an abundance of roses, hedges, and beautiful garden features.
• Garden 2: Janeen and Dugald Wright, who have a cottage style garden with abundant colour and fragrance, in addition to a native theme in the back garden.
• Garden 3: Jenna and Chris Peet. With a park like serenity, this garden is in its infancy and emerging.
• Garden 4: Bev and Peter Taylor, who have a north facing native garden with very drought-tolerant plants on a rocky site.
• Garden 5: Cassie and Scott Bennett. This is a drought tolerant garden inspired, in part, by elements of the Outback to complement the view over the Belubula valley.
• Garden 6: Annie and Mark Ward, who have a large rural garden established over the past 50 years with large shade trees, roses and hardy perennials.
Event organiser Bronwin Lay said it promises to be a great event. “The Canowindra High School P & C would like to thank the community for supporting this fundraising activity,” she said. “Many thanks are also extended to the volunteer helpers including staff, parents and students, and the garden owners who have generously opened their gardens to the public.”
Admission to the event is $25 for adults, and free for minors. All proceeds go to the Canowindra High School P&C.
