Stork News: On Monday 30th September Sam and Jamie-Lee Amos welcomed their second daughter, Josie Gloria Amos. Weighing 4.24kg and 53cm long, Josie is a little sister for Thea. Proud grandparents are Cindy Walker of Canowindra and Garry and Kim Amos and Brydon and Samantha Edwards, all of Cowra.

NSW DPI Spring Field Day: Is being held on Friday 18th October. The day will start at “The Pines” and cover the topics of Pulse Agronomy and pH Stratification. Pulse crops provide valuable nitrogen inputs into the farming system, as long as effective nodulation has occurred. These trials are evaluating a range of new bacteria species and delivery systems to ensure effective nodulation. The Field Day then moves on to “Belmont” to the topic of Cover Cropping in Central NSW. The trial aims to inform growers on the pros and cons of growing summer cover crops, and compares single and multi-species at several spray-out timings as part of a GRDC funded project. There are plenty of paddocks with low ground cover, and these local results will help inform growers regarding the risk/re- wards from growing a cover crop and how it could impact the farming system. BBQ lunch will be provided and there will also be an option to visit the wheat variety by sowing time trials at Rob Bowmans at 2pm with Peter Matthews.

Melbourne Cup Coming to Cabonne Shire: Next Monday, 14 October the iconic 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour is making a special stopover in Yeoval. The Banjo Paterson…more than a Poet Museum will be hosting a gala ‘Race Day’ at the Yeoval Museum. The iconic ‘Peoples Cup’ will arrive in Yeoval at 9.45am.
