Local Ram Sale Success

28 August, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Robbie and Maureen Lawrence and Charles and Kylie Lawrence from Goonigal Poll Dorsets held their 4th Annual Ram Sale on Tuesday at the Canowindra Showground.

Bill Brien from Allan Gray and Co ran the auction with 19 bidder registrations and more than 40 people in attendance on a lovely near-spring day. Bill Brien commented that “It was great to see some new faces in the crowd and welcomed back the regular buyers.”

There were 77 lots penned and ready for viewing by 10am at the Showground. The bidding started off strong with the top priced ram going for $1,700.

24 out of the 37 2018 drop rams sold to an average of $900 with the top price being $1,700. Then 34 out of 40 2017 drop rams sold for an average of$570 with a top price of $1,150 twice.

All rams up for auction were Brucellosis accredited free and vaccinated for OJD and footrot free.

Goonigal Poll Dorsets rams are known for their early maturing weight for age, carcase shape and yield in their progeny.

The Lawrence family would like to wish all the buyers at the sale every success with their purchases and for the rest of the season.

Remember Goonigal Poll Dorsets are “The best rams ewe can get” so look out for next year’s sale!
