24hr Tractorthon A Success All ‘Round

7 August, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Central West Charity Tractor Trek Group held their second annual ‘Tractorthon’ fundraiser over the weekend at Canowindra Showground, raising money for its chosen charity Little Wings, a not for profit organisation providing transport for sick children and their families from the Central West to the city for free for specialist appointments and treatment.

This year over $16,000 was raised from the event, $3,500 more than last year’s event with more money to come in through the Tractor Trek and raffle.

Four tractors each completed 446 laps during the 24 hour period with speeds of up to 30kms per hour, covering a total of 356.8km each. Lowes Petroleum kindly donated the 400 litres of diesel required to keep the tractors going.

There were 76 participants and driver changes were made every 30 minutes with members of the community, representatives from each of the Schools and Federal member for Calare Mr Andrew Gee MP all getting behind the wheel.

“Thanks to everyone for their support and sponsorship. Everything went off with no problems at all and it was great to see so many people showing support,” said Roy White, Central West Charity Tractor Trek Group.

The Central West Tractor Trek this year will be based in Dubbo for three days over the 27th-29th September and visit the towns of Wongrabon, Beni and Geurie along the way. The tractors will also visit the Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

The raffle is being drawn at this year’s Tractor Trek dinner in Dubbo on 28th September so raffle tickets are still on sale at Canowindra Tyre Service and the Canowindra Phoenix office with some great prizes on offer including a brand new Hyundai i30 to be won. Tickets are only $5 each.
