Vote Now In My Community Project

24 July, 2019 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

There are three major projects in Canowindra that have been put forward and are now open for voting in the NSW Government’s My Community Project Scheme. The entire community is encouraged to vote for these projects by heading to www.mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au/projects

Lighting up Tom Clyburn Oval is one of the projects. It proposes the installation of light towers at the Oval to supply first class lighting to the complex.

It will enable evening games of sport and the opportunity to host Regional sporting events at night. It will also give the community the chance to host non sporting events like marquee community events including popular food and wine events, night markets and fundraisers.

An upgrade to the rusted old cricket nets at Canowindra Public School is another project. The nets will be used by all students in the community, either during school or for afternoon cricket practice sessions. The new nets will help promote an active lifestyle for everyone to enjoy.

Canowindra Public School cricket nets are located on the grounds of the local public school. The other local primary school St Edward’s is located directly across the road and students from both schools will benefit from this upgrade. Students’ skills will improve and more children will want to participate in cricket and be active.

The final project is a new community display shed at the Canowindra Showground.

This project will go towards a bright new display shed for local events such as the Canowindra Show. It will make the Showgrounds safer and continue with the overall Showground improvements.
