Lachlan Rice aged 11 a young Canowindra resident was lucky enough to be selected for the NSW U18’s development squad for Woodchopping. Lachlan headed to the Sydney Royal Easter Show with the squad and on Easter Sunday was fortunate to be coached by Matthew Gurr an 8 times Tree Felling World Champion.
Lachlan won’t be able to compete until he turns 12 so in 2020 he will make his woodchopping debut at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Last weekend the Rice family enjoyed a day of woodchopping at the Royal Bathurst Show.
Matt Rice came 1st in the 300mm underhand final on Saturday and 2nd in the 275mm underhand final.
