One wonders how the people of the Carcoar-Canowindra area might now consider the sensibility of taking the advice for building the Cranky Rock-Needles Dam against the wishes of the few (most of whom do not live in the district) for not building.
Level 2 restrictions are in place – triggered by the rational decision to not wait for the Lake Rowlands <60% full trigger in the face of the reality of a much lower availability in the near future. Save what water you can by slowing usage earlier.
Politicians have blown hot and cold on the Cranky Rock Dam for decades and the latest decision to raise Wyangala wall height does not serve the Belubula domestic water needs of the future, only Cranky Rock might, as would the use of the redundant Cadia pit as a reservoir holding the little snow melt re-directed from Canobolas for agricultural purposes.
When all is considered from a ‘real-world’ view, the saving of special areas in the Cliefden Cave system “Access is restricted to members of groups affiliated with the ASF and the property owners request that all visitors must have a permit issued through the Orange Speleological society”.
Precluding most from viewing them, it is time for some building for the future of the majority and turning a deaf-ear to noisy special interest groups (as described before) and their frothing at the mouth.
