Milestone 100th Birthday For Cecille

17 October, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The last week has been an exciting time for Moyne Aged Care Plus resident Cecille Farley who has just celebrated her milestone 100th birthday. Ms Farley continues to enjoy an active lifestyle and remains passionate in her dedication to her artwork, particularly the beautiful landscapes she paints. Indeed Ms Farley was the most successful exhibitor in artwork sections at the recent Canowindra Show, taking out two first places and a second place for her work.

It is inspiring to see that Ms Farley pursued her dream to become an artist from a young age, and after completing her schooling she chose to study art full time. Like many young women of her time however, she was encouraged to train in shorthand and typing which her family felt would hold her in good stead to gain alternative employment.

As a young woman she pursued a love of travel and lived in London for a time. However it was art which remained her primary passion, and she went on to become an art teacher.

“When I visited Ms Farley to congratulate her on this very special occasion, I was excited to view some of her artworks which now adorn the walls of the Moyne Aged Care Plus facility,” Mr Donato said.

“If I am fortunate enough to reach the age now enjoyed by Ms Farley I would hope I could do so with the same passion and zest for life which makes Ms Farley a role model for older Australians,” said Mr Donato.
