Advancing Australian Agriculture

10 October, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

The Australian National Field Days (ANFD) is the oldest annual agricultural exhibition in the country. Established in 1952, the ANFD continues to offer visitors a unique insight into the future of agriculture with the commitment to Advancing Australian Agriculture.

ANFD Manager, Jayne West, explained more than 600 exhibitors now travel to the Borenore site (15kms west of Orange, NSW) from all over Australia and internationally to display their products and services during the three-day event.

“The event has come a long way from a discussion between two local men after attending a farm machinery demo day in the Hawkesbury in 1951,” Jayne outlined.

“The prime purpose of the Australian National Field Days continues to be to assist the agricultural industry by providing those involved with the opportunity of gaining firsthand knowledge of the latest trends in agricultural equipment and technology,” said Jayne West ANFD Manager.

Calling all New Inventors. Do you have what it takes to be an inventor or maybe you know somebody who tinkers away in the back shed, coming up with weird and wonderful ideas. If that’s the case then the Australian National Field Days (ANFD) want you!

The ANFD are running a New Inventors competition this year and the only rule is that the product must not be in production. “In tough times, like the drought, farmers get very inventive – so they become backyard inventors or tinkers. This is a chance for them to display their wares and hopefully
for other farmers to see and often give comment on ways to improve or change. It may lead to the invention getting patoned and then put into production,” Jayne said.

The winner of the competition will receive a trophy, a $100 prize and media coverage. If this sounds like you or somebody you know, then contact the ANFD on 6362 1588 or email info@anfd.com.au
