Canowindra Pythons

11 July, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

On Saturday the Pythons headed to Grenfell for the real first winters day of rugby for the year. Unfortunately for the team it was a day full of injuries that started from the first five minutes. Mick Diamond copped a head clash and looked to crack a cheek bone and eye socket and not long after Dude Williams had the same injury happen to him. This has put the injured bench for the year to ten which makes it hard to field a full strength side each week.

The Panthers relished on the Pythons reshuffle  and scored four unanswered tries in the first half. Tom Roth finally found some points for the Pythons with a converted try, though that was the only points for the day for the Pythons. Grenfell scored once in the second half and then the referee put himself on the casualty list with a pulled calf muscle and the game was called off 10 minutes before full time.

Points for the day went to 3 points Lochie Davis and Players Player, 3 points to Dan Bowd and 1 point each to Kenny Turnbull and Ron Lawrence. This weekend is the Pythons Ladies Day at The Oval from 2.30pm where Canowindra will be hosting Cootamundra. There will be complimentary catering and drinks from Claire Bray.
