Bendigo Bank Agency Opens Its Doors In Canowindra

11 July, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

After many months of work by the Committee for the Canowindra District Community Bank® and with the support of the locals, the Agency opened its doors on Wednesday 11th July.

The Committee would like to thank the Canowindra community for their strong support of this important initiative for our town and particularly those that have submitted Pledges of support, indicating your intention to invest in shares in our local Company. To date, we have received pledges totalling $730,000, very close to the target of $800,000 an outstanding result. Well done!

The customer service representative at the Agency is a young lady from Canowindra, Kaila Millar who we welcome to this role. She is currently undergoing training and will be fully supported by the Bendigo team at the branch in Orange. The Agency will be open five days a week from 10am to 2pm. The Agency will be located at Ian Simpson and Co, 80 Gaskill Street, Canowindra.

The next milestone for us is to build the Bendigo banking business in Canowindra. This element of the process is most important as it will enable us to prove the project’s feasibility and help to give the community branch a head start when we eventually open for business. Our community has already generated 40% of the business required and with your support of the new Agency, we are confident of reaching the target.

We are now calling on the Canowindra community to show your support by visiting the Agency and finding out about the range of products available. We need individuals, local businesses and farmers to open accounts and to transfer some of your banking business to Bendigo: loans, deposits, current accounts, debit and credit cards. Introductory rates and details will soon be advertised so that you can achieve the best result. You can be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
