Congratulations must go to The Age of Fishes Museum and Canowindra Challenge Inc for being nominated as Finalists in the Regional Tourism Awards for 2018. The Regional Tourism Awards are held annually to acknowledge excellence in tourism in regional NSW. In 2018, the regional tourism awards gala event for the Country and Outback section will be held in Orange on Saturday 28th July.
The Country and Outback Destination Network is the largest in NSW, covering from Broken Hill out west, through to Oberon and all the way up to the Queensland border.
One of the main focus points of the awards is to develop quality regional tourism products and provide businesses the opportunity to benchmark their business with similar businesses in activity and size and also have the opportunity to identify their own personal and professional development within the tourism industry.
The Age of Fishes Museum has been nominated as a Finalist in the Specialised Tourism Services category. This category recognises the outstanding delivery of specialised or distinct tourism product/service that enhances the visitor experience and integrates with other tourism products.
“The whole process of doing the awards submission was quite enlightening, it is a really good idea for all businesses to apply to see the strengths and inadequacies of your business,” said Anne Clark from The Age of Fishes Museum.
Canowindra Challenge Inc has been selected as a Finalist in the Festivals and Events category, this category recognises festivals, events and exhibitions that attract fewer than 50,000 visitors, enhance the profile and appeal of the destination in which they are held and create a significant economic impact for the destination. “There are five areas of the business that are examined in the submission including Marketing, Business, Customer Service, Tourism Excellence and Sustainability, the application process makes you have a really hard look at your business,” said Jan Kerr from Canowindra Challenge Inc.
We wish both businesses the best of luck!
