Squash

9 May, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Canowindra Squash Club has lots of new members and over 70 players each week. The Junior Squash is a great feeder group for the adult competitions with High School students showing such potential as they rise through the ranks with their reflexes, fast feet and exuberance. Thanks to Trevor Simpson for his coaching and mentoring of these young players.

Four junior members put together a team for the High School squash challenge and came home winners! Jamie Austin, Sammy Austin, Lucas Ellis and Jordie Smith all won their matches.

The 2018 Squash Championships are on Saturday 2nd June with a working bee on Saturday 26th May. Nominations are being called so please get your names in. Preliminary games will be played during the preceding week. All help at the working bee is welcome. Always a fun time with dinner on at The Royal afterwards.

Junior Squash continues Monday afternoons at 4.30pm. Anyone needing subs for Monday night competition call Sandy on 0429 441 766.

For the next three weeks while Sue is away play is still fast and furious as recent results show: Kassie beat Moey 67-66, Honorio beat Tommy 65-59, Elsey stopped Marcus 48-45, Jane went down to Don 64-69, Sandy beat Bron 50-48, Sam and Shaun drew 53 all as did Carolyn and Jonno. Kath lost to Kobie 50-57, Nick lost to Helen 55-58, Andrew and Cassie drew at 67 all, Bron beat Kobie 59-50 and Tommy beat Maryann 58-39.
