MEN’S BOWLS
Last weekend the No 5’s Pennant Team travelled to Grenfell to compete in the zone playoffs. They won their first game against Lithgow Workers by three shots and in the second game they won against Gilgandra by two shots.
On Sunday morning they played Orange Country Club who also won their first two games. Unfortunately for us we dropped 10 shots on these ends to lose the aggregate 66-56.
Saturday May 12 – Minor Pairs – N Delaney and P Markcrow v T Fisher and P Makin. Major Singles – T Tuimauga v B Lees and Marker I Nelder. D Beath v P Lees and Marker R Traves.
Sunday May 13 – Major Pairs – N Delaney and P Markcrow v C Webb and B Webb. B Lees and D Beath v A Wyburn and P Lees.
Nominations are now called for the major and minor triples as well as the major and minor fours. Nominations for these events will close on Sunday May 20.
WOMEN’S BOWLS
Two Canowindra teams made it to the Final of the District Senior Pairs played at Parkes on Monday, 7th May. Colleen Crump and Gwen Haydon and Nancy Morrow and Deanna Noble.
On Tuesday morning, 8th May, Nancy and Deanna defeated Colleen and Gwen 16-13. Three social games were played on Tuesday,
8th May one three bowl pairs, one two bowl triples and one fours. Shirley Robson and Joice McNaught defeated Jenny Daly and Marion Wilson 22-17. Bobbie Turner, Leanne Stevenson and Libby Balcombe defeated Linda Miller, Penny Nash and Jo Davies 24-19. Joyce Middleton, Liz Thornberry, Betty Jenkins and Dianne Mooney defeated Ellen Petty, Diane Slattery, Sandy McDonald and Daph Bryant 20-19.
Our No. 3 Pennant Team competes in the Playoffs at Cowra commencing on Monday, 14th May. We play Orange City then Gulgong and on Tuesday morning we play our final match against Nyngan.
