Private Kye Reid

18 April, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Kye Reid spoke with the Phoenix this week about life in the Army. Kye grew up in Canowindra and went to school here he also still has family in Canowindra.

How long have you been in the Army? I have been in the Army for almost two years.

Why did you join the Army? I joined the Army because of the opportunities it can provide along with job security. I wanted to have a career that was challenging but also rewarding.

Where are you based? I am based at Robertson Barracks in Darwin – 5RAR.

What is your title? Private Reid.

Do you have any other family in the Armed forces? No, I don’t have any serving family members.

What do you enjoy most about being in the Army? I enjoy the fitness and love playing with all the weapons and vehicles we use in the Army.

Describe a typical day in the Army? At 07:30 we do one hour of fitness then after breakfast at 09:30 we go back to work and do training. For example weapons drills, first aid training and vehicle maintenance.

We have lunch from 12:30-13:30 and then after lunch we hit the gym at 14:00 until 15:30. We are finished for the day by 16:00.
