Recognition Of Local Librarian’s Commitment

7 March, 2018 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Rossanne Holmes worked as a casual librarian for 15 years at Canowindra’s local Library up until five years ago when she took on a permanent position as the librarian working every opening hour in Canowindra and on Monday’s and Wednesday’s at the Orange Library.

On Tuesday 27th February, a branch meeting was held to discuss the direction of the Central West Library branches and where service could be improved throughout the local branches, this was when Rossanne was recognised for her work and received a long service award for her 5 years of permanent work at the Canowindra branch working every opening hour in Canowindra and in Orange on Monday and Wednesday.

The Canowindra Phoenix asked “What do you like about working in the Library and what is your favourite part of working here?” Rossanne’s response was: “The service that you get and the connection to the other Central West Libraries connects the town to more books and resources from the other libraries.”

The Canowindra library offers a quiet place to study with access to internet, computers and books or even as a quiet place to read your favourite book with the library open four out of seven days.

“The Canowindra Library is a local meeting place for studying and children’s story time as well as book club meetings that brings the community closer,” said Rossanne. We also asked her what her favourite book was and the name of the author “The Lord of the Rings by J.R Tolkin,” said Rossanne.

Rossanne would like to remind everyone that Lego Club is scheduled to begin on Tuesday afternoon from 4-5pm on 13th March every second Tuesday of the month. The Canowindra Phoenix would like to congratulate Rossanne for her time and dedication at the Canowindra Library.
