Cabonne Heads To The Polls

6 September, 2017 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Cabonne residents and ratepayers will vote on a referendum question as well as electing their new council when they go to the polls this Saturday September 9. Electors will be asked to decide whether the council reduces its councillor numbers from 12 to nine for the council’s next term in three years’ time. Eligible voters must vote YES if they support or NO if they oppose the question.

If the referendum question is passed, the reduction in councillor numbers will take effect from the Local Government elections in 2020. Voters will receive the referendum question along with their ballot papers for the Cabonne Council election where they will be asked to select the new 12-person council, which will serve from 2017 to 2020.

The following polling places will be open from 8am to 6pm on September 9: Borenore Public School, Bowen Public School,
Canobolas Public School, Canowindra High School, Cargo Public School, Cudal Public School, Cumnock Community Centre, Eugowra
Public School, Manildra Soldiers Memorial Hall, Molong Community Hall, Mullion Creek Public School, Nashdale Public
School, Orange High School, Spring Hill Public School, Spring Terrace Public School, Yeoval Central School and Sydney Town Hall.

If you cannot vote on election day, you can vote early at the following pre-poll venues:
• Molong Council Chambers 99-101 Bank Street, Molong.
• Orange Region Returning Officer’s Office 123-125 Moulder Street, Orange.
Pre-poll voting is available until 5pm Friday 8 September 2017. For everything you need to know about the council
election, visit the NSW Electoral Commission website at www.votensw.info or call 1300 135 736.
