Focus On Your Farm Business

9 August, 2017 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Given the current dry season being experienced across the Central Tablelands and Central West, there is no better time to review
your business plans and develop improved decision-making skills. A QBL Planning workshop is commencing next week at Cowra Ex-Services Club.

There are a couple of places left, and you are invited to attend Day 1 on Tuesday 15th August with the option to continue Days 2-5 if you feel the course will fit your purpose. Days 2 & 3, 24th-25th August and Days 4 & 5, 31st August – 1st September.

QBL Planning team Ed Henry and Megan Rowlands have developed a unique course which enables all members of a farming family team to develop and implement a business plan that works for the whole family. The workshop cost is one fee per business encouraging all family and staff members from each business to attend and is RAA approved allowing for 50% rebate.

Both Ed and Megan have a wealth of experience working with family farm businesses and have co-authored a book titled “A 21st Century approach to Farm Management – Quadruple Bottom Line Planning”. Megan says farmers have a very challenging
profession, there are so many components to manage with often limited human resources. The challenge is to equally manage all four key parts of the business being the human component, production & marketing, natural resources and financial performance. It is a balancing act. To ignore one area can eventually bring the business undone, create frustration, stress and angst.

The QBL Planning workshops are designed to collectively enable the team to create an agreed direction for the business and know how to put the plan into action, monitor and review. This will allow more control over making decisions, create a resilient farm business and at the same time meet the needs of each family member.
