Local Canowindra woman Alison Stephens had a holiday to remember these school holidays with her family when she travelled to San Francisco to compete in the Golden Gate 30km Coastal Trail Run. Alison said that “It is a nice reminder that travel and your hobby can result in nice experiences and that it was a bonus to win on the day!”
She was the first female across the line in the 30km race with a time of 2:58:51. “It was lovely to be in San Francisco doing what people who love being active & live in the city are doing on a Saturday morning, running around the San Francisco National Park taking in spectacular views of the ocean, Golden Gate Bridge & the City itself.” said Alison. “As a family we enjoy the outdoors and this was another great experience that we enjoyed as a family. Mitch & Toby were 1st in their age groups and received beautiful medals, Hayley enjoyed the trail run with a new American friend, Shelby.
They both skipped to the finish line & even took a wrong turn. There were lots of smiles from everyone for the day,” said Alison.
Another local Canowindra woman Sally Wallace also has something to celebrate. Over the weekend she was named as a Finalist in the 37th Annual Cowra Sports Person of the Year Awards for her participation in Triathlons around the state. Three time Olympian Lisa Curry was at the event as a special guest to inspire and motivate the audience. Well done Sally!
