St Edwards School Spelling Bee: Congratulations to Tom Agostino, Oliver Etty, Chloe Townsend and Nina Cuddy who represented the school at last week’s Diocesan Spelling Bee Final, held at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Wellington. Well done on your skill and attitude towards spelling words correctly within your writing.
Canowindra Rugby Club: Held a successful State of Origin night, with a great result for the blues supporters. The Club supplied nibbles and beef and gravy rolls on the night, which were cooked to perfec- tion by Rob Morris and Westy Wyburn. The second State of Origin is on the 21st June and the Club plan on having hot dogs. Rob assures Johnny Lawrence that he will light the fire. Everyone is welcome to the Club House from 6.30pm.
Realising for the Read Triplets: Have completed the hemping of their ‘Miracle House’ in just 21 days. A massive thank you to the 70 volunteers who helped com- plete the walls, catered and supported the Read family throughout the process.
Year 12 take on Staff: A fierce competition between teacher and student in a game of softball saw the Canowindra High School Year 12 students come out victorious. The game was thoroughly entertaining with the rivalry very high among players. Thank you to Mr Phelan for organising the game and for everyone who participated.
Free help for parents of teenagers: ReachOut Australia have just released a free service where parents who are having is- sues with their teenagers can access up to four sessions with a professional over the phone, as well as a range of digital services. ‘Raising happy and healthy teenagers today can be a minefield. This is the first generation of parents facing issues around technology and social media in addition to the age old challenges such as bullying, drinking, sex and relationships. We also know that around one in four young people are likely to have a mental illness,” said ReachOut CEO Jono Nicholos.
Susan Rose Ryan: Eldest daughter of Charlie McCarron graduated from the University of Technology Sydney, on Monday 15th May 2017. Susan completed a Bachelor of Arts in Communications specialising in Information and Media. Being a breast cancer survivor of 10 years she hopes to use her qualifications to help other breast cancer survivors. Congratulations Susan!
