Get Outside And Get Better!

OMG, we are building a house and I walk around it every day, soaking up the wonder of it. I have noticed what a joy it is to have the sun shining while I am doing it! How amazing does it feel to have the sun shining – to feel that warmth on your body? There’s a reason we are drawn to it – because our body wants it.

According to a study done at the University of Essex, England, just five minutes spent outside in “green exercise”, including cycling, walking and gardening, boosts a persons’ mood and level of self-esteem. Another study done at the University of Rochester in New York found significant increases in vitality and immunity from spending time in nature.

So often we head outside with shoes on our feet, headphones in our ears, sunglasses on our faces and maybe our airconditioned cars around our bodies! There is a natural healing rhythm of nature that we are just not connecting to any more. The energy you feel from walking barefoot is the grounds electrical energy rising up through you. Research shows that this energy creates a shift in our physiology.

It promotes health, better sleep, stabilizes our biological rhythms, knocks down chronic inflammation and reduces and eliminates pain. We could call it Dr. Earth! This disconnect from nature is one of the contributing factors to the alarming rise of chronic disease and in particular, inflammatory–related conditions. Kicking off your shoes may sound far too simple as a method for creating such a powerful healing effect. We know that the sun provides us with Vitamin D and we could say the earth provides us with Vitamin G – Ground.

To still an anxious mind, awaken an energetic slump, reduce inflammation, lift energy levels, decrease inflammation, clear your mind, promote better sleep – to enjoy your life more at every level – Go outside! Sit, walk, garden, breathe – get back in touch with the rhythms our body wants to live by -the sun, moon, tides and seasons. Our body is not separate from nature and the more it is in rhythm with nature, the better our health will be!
