WOMEN’S BOWLS
The women’s bowls had another great week with three matches being played on Tuesday 18th October.
MINOR SINGLES – 1st round – Jenny Middleton defeated Joyce McNaught 25-11. Marker Sandy McDonald.
HANDICAP PAIRS –2nd round-Jeanette Wheeldon & Betty Jenkins defeated Linda Miller & Jo Davies 18-17.
There was one game of social fours played. Moyna Rue, Ellen Petty & Deanna Noble defeated Shirley Robson, Joyce Middleton, Dianne Mooney & Libby Balcombe 20-19.
The Lucky Draw was won by Betty Jenkins with No. 1.
Our sincere sympathy is extended to Marion Wilson & family on the passing of Barry on 3rd October aged 82 and also to Bruce & Merlene Byrnes on the passing of Gaye Cassidy on 29th September aged 53. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time of the loss of a loved one. God’s blessings to you all.
MEN’S BOWLS
A mixed pairs game was played last Friday with Cec and Libby Balcombe against Kevin Walker and Sheryn O’Malveney. Cec and Libby got off to a good start leading 19-11 after 4 ends and then led until 16 ends when the scores were level at 23 all. Kevin and Sheryn then took the lead for the rest of the game to win 26-25.
Saturday October 22 mixed pairs was played with J Preston and J Wheeldon V R Traves and B Jenkins. M Lawrence and J
Trimbell V M McMullen and M Gosper. Sunday October 23 is Bob Bates Presidents Day. Rollup will be at 9.00am for 9.30am start. The day will have 3 games of 12 ends and is $60 per team.
Mixed mufti bowls will continue on Thursday October 22 with names in by 1.30am for 2.00pm start. Twilight barefoot bowls will also continue with names in by 5.30pm for 6.00pm start. All welcome. Thanks to Bob Bates, Ian Nelder and Di Slattery for attending the working bee last Saturday morning.
The 100 club was drawn and won by number 27 belonging to Don Wilkin (Rocky). Saturday October 29th the footy tipping party will start 5.30pm. Names required by Monday 24th for catering purposes. Sunday November 20 is Skirts Vs Shirts annual challenge, playing for club shield kindly supplied by Barry Rose, 9am for 9.30am start. Teams of triples with cost being $20 per person with lunch included.
Friday badge draw is up $1700 and Bingo will be on this Thursday starting at 11am.
