Tractor Trek Ready To Roll

The fourth installment of the annual Tractor Trek is already shaping up to be a hit this year, with 27 tractors already registered to take part in the expedition. The Tractor Trek is an annual gathering of people and their tractors, who spend a weekend travelling across parts of the Central west in their tractors.

Both vintage and modern tractors are expected to participate this year, and all funds raised from the event will go to the Camp Quality charity, which looks after children with cancer.

This year’s trek will start on Friday, September 23, and end on Sunday, September 25, and will see each participant drive through Billimari, Canowindra, Woodstock, Holmwood, Cowra, Goologong, Grenfell, Greenthorpe, and back to Cowra.

Money will be raised by each participant through sponsorship, as well as other individual fundraising efforts. Roy White, who has been involved with the Tractor Trek for the last three years and has raised over $30,000 for Camp Quality, said it was a great initiative to be apart of. “I decided to come on board as it’s a great opportunity to support young children with cancer,” he said. Mr White said safety measures had already been put in place for the trek, with the tractors staying off main highways as to not cause traffic issues.

Tractors will also drive in brackets of 10, with a one-kilometre gap in between each bracket. The Tractor Trek will also host a morning tea and puppet show at Canowindra Public School on the Friday, before heading to Woodstock for lunch that same day. There will be a dinner and auction fundraiser at the Cowra Bowling Club that night. Tickets for the dinner in Cowra can be purchased at the Cowra Visitors Centre. Prior to the event, a public barbeque breakfast will be held at Canowindra Tyre Service on Saturday, September 3.
