Representatives from the Canowindra CWA Branch at the CWA State Conference in Bathurst.
The Canowindra branch celebrated their 99th birthday on Thursday, 25th at the Old Vic Inn. The branch has been supporting Canowindra and district for nearly a century and are looking forward to a huge celebration next year for all members past and present. The birthday cake was cut by Patron, Trish Pearce and Group President, Bev Worrall from Cumnock.
Six of our members, Betty Jenkins, Cathy Smith, Jan Kerr, Celia Klinger, Leanne Stevenson and Glenda Gavin attended the State Conference in Bathurst in early May. All six volunteered to help make the conference run smoothly.
Many motions were discussed at the conference and adopted to now become part of State Policy Examples to lobby NSW government to establish palliative care units in all regional hospitals, the inclusion of education programmes in NSW and ACT schools highlighting the negative health impacts of vaping and e-cigarettes and to advocate for compulsory first aid training for all learner drivers. In all 20 motions were carried.
During the conference local CWA member, Jan Kerr was elected as a State Vice President, great honor for our branch and group.

A highlight of the month was the Coronation Celebration friendship morning tea. These are open to all and are held on the 2nd Monday each month.
