$30,000 Grant for Local Balloon Challenge

6 March, 2014 By Canowindra Phoenix Editor

Member for the Dubbo Electorate Troy Grant has announced the 19th Australian National Balloon Championships and Canowindra International Challenge will receive funding assistance under the NSW Governments Sport and Recreation Events Grant Program.

The 19th Australian National Balloon Championships and Canowindra International Challenge will receive $30,000 in funding and the event runs from the 22nd to the 27th April.

“Events like this help put this Electorate on the map, which brings in visitors from all over the world and in turn provides local businesses and tourism operators with a valuable economic boost”, Troy Grant explained.

Jan Kerr from Canowindra Challenge Inc. said “We are thrilled to see the NSW Government supporting an International Balloon Event in regional NSW and local communities.”

Both events were awarded through the NSW Sport and Recreation Events Program which aims to attract financially viable local, national and international sporting events to New South Wales.
