Australia’s 2025 federal election is scheduled for Saturday, 3 May, marking a significant event in the nation’s political landscape.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called for the election, with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) overseeing preparations for what is anticipated to be Australia’s largest-ever election.
Eligible voters must have enrolled by 8 pm on Monday, 7 April and is now closed for any new enrollments.
The AEC website – www.aec.gov.au – has a wealth of information for the general public to reference, including applying for positions to work at the Federal Election, where you can go for a postal vote, check your enrolment status, along with a myriad of information to help you make your vote count. The website also provides tools to locate your electorate, and access information about electoral boundary changes.
For those people that need to vote ahead of Saturday 3 May, early voting centres will be open progressively across the country from Tuesday 22 April 2025 and will run up to and including Friday 2 May 2025.
On election day, voters will receive two ballot papers: one for the House of Representatives, utilising preferential voting, and one for the Senate, which can be completed either above or below the line.
