Christmas in July celebrations have kicked off already for this month but why exactly do we celebrate Christmas twice a year? For Australia July is generally the coldest month of winter so it was decided to mimic the northern hemisphere’s Christmas with chilly weather, the odd snow man, hearty meals, roast dinners and warm drinks in front of a fireplace. There is no public holiday for the occasion but who doesn’t like another reason to celebrate?
The Phoenix will again be running their Best Dressed Window Competition this year with an awesome prize up for grabs. Decorate your shop front with your best Christmas display for all of July to be in the running. Local judges will decide the winner who will be off to a hatted restaurant. The winner will receive a dinner voucher for two for a two course meal with matched wines, including a glass of sparkling on arrival from the renowned restaurant Lolli Redini, located in Orange.
To enter the competition simply just dress up your window and let our judges decide as they walk down the Main Street. For this year judges are looking for you to think outside the square, so get creative.
Lolli Redini is regarded as one of the top restaurants in the region with fourteen successful Sydney Morning Herald Chefs Hats since opening in 2001, along with an array of other awards.
“We believe in creating dishes that use the best local produce in a manner that is refined and interesting and marrying these dishes with great wines, service and ambience.”
Named after friend Grazia Lolli Redini, from the Tuscan village of San Gimignano, the Restaurant serves contemporary Italian and French influenced food using mostly local produce and other spe- cially sourced items that conform to their highly selective criteria. That is, seasonal, organic, sustainable, low food mile and ethically farmed produce. They also have plenty of vegetarian options and cater to all dietary requirements. Their award winning wine list features the best of the locals and an extensive selection from other regions.
With a prize like this be sure to dress up your window this Christmas in July!
