Deputy Mayor Cr Gerald Power, NSW Nationals Upper House MP Sam Farraway and NSW Nationals Candidate for Orange Cr Tony Mileto are excited to announce upgrades to Lake Canobolas.
Lake Canobolas in the Orange Electorate is among 11 swim projects on the way for communities across the state, thanks to the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government’s Places to Swim program.
NSW Nationals Upper House MP Sam Farraway recently visited the lake with NSW Nationals Candidate for Orange Cr Tony Mileto and said that Orange City Council will receive more than $1.3 million will be allocated to Orange City Council to activate the precinct.
“Lake Canobolas is a true gem in Orange and it’s great to see our government putting forward two programs that will invest in its preservation and improvement for future generations to enjoy,” Mr Farraway said.
Orange Deputy Mayor Cr Gerald Power thanked the NSW Government for their support and said that the funding will allow council to deliver a major upgrade of the lake precinct.
“The two highlights of this upgrade will be a floating boardwalk along the western shore and a fountain in the middle of the lake that will shoot water twenty metres into the air,” Cr Power said.
“As well as being a huge water feature that will catch the eye of visitors, the fountain is about improving water quality for fish by boosting oxygen levels,” explains Cr Power
“By upgrading both beach areas, erecting 13 new shade structures and building new wheel-chair accessible concrete paths around key picnic areas, we are delivering a much more enjoyable experience at Lake Canobolas for everyone. We’re also adding a new playground and amenities block,” said Cr Power
“We are greatly appreciative of the NSW Government’s support and know that this significant investment will have a positive impact on all the community.”
